Leopard Spotted at Siddaganga Mutt in Tumakuru
A leopard was sighted within the premises of the Siddaganga Mutt, located in Kyathasandra, Tumakuru. The animal was captured on CCTV cameras wandering near the old mutt premises around 11:30 PM on Saturday night, according to the local sources.
The leopard was seen near the Smrithi Vana area of the mutt and fled after a dog in the vicinity barked. Upon reviewing the CCTV footage, the mutt staff informed the forest department officials about the sighting.
Following the inspection of the area, the forest department officials installed a cage to capture the leopard. It is suspected that the leopard might have entered the area in search of prey, likely the dog.
Incidents of leopards and bears venturing into villages in this region are not uncommon. Earlier, in the early hours of Saturday morning, a leopard was seen roaming on T.P. Kailasam Road in the Saptagiri Layout. Footage of the animal’s movement was recorded on a nearby home’s CCTV camera.
